Who doesn’t love a good proposal video? A couple of weeks ago, a video of a man proposing to his girlfriend was circulating around the internet. Kornelius set up a photo shoot with his girlfriend, Rachel, of 4 years and popped the question on a rooftop in Los Angeles, CA. Take a look at the well thought out/semi-secluded and beautiful proposal below.

Or how about this detailed surprise proposal in front of Carnegie Hall and a bus full of 50 strangers.

I always get emotional watching proposal videos. Seeing people at that vulnerable moment, expressing their love to the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with, is pretty magical.

I shared the photo shoot proposal video with my sister and she asked me if I would prefer to be proposed to in public or in private. My immediate thought was that I didn’t really have a preference. Being proposed to in front of family and friends would be just as nice as if it were just the two of us (I’m single but we can pretend).

But after seeing the second proposal video I thought about it some more. I don’t think I would want strangers witnessing something that is supposed to be so intimate. Especially in the days where people record everything, I don’t know if I would want to see my ugly cry floating around on the internet.

After further thought, I think my preference is either a private proposal with just me and my boyfriend or a proposal surrounded by close family and friends.

If you’re married, how were you proposed to? Would you have wanted it to be private if it was public or vice versa? If you’re not married (all my single ladies and gents), what is your preferred proposal? Private or public. Let us know in the comments!

We’re excited to bring you, Marjorie & Sam : Old World Luxury (part 3).

It was important that the design concept be a complement to the already stunning interior architecture of Sleepy Hollow Country Club. We focused on Scale, composition, texture, colors and intricate details for Marjorie & Sam’s wedding.

The anatomy of a great tablescape is illustrated in the following images.  A fully “dressed” place setting doesn’t have to overwhelm the table. It should be balanced and scaled to perfection.

(2) two menu designs, and (2) two lace types for visual depth.

First the wider lace with menu design 1.

Second, the thinner lace with menu design 2.

A mix of  low lush and tall florals, in both ballrooms.

Gold accents within the table number frame, pick up on the table linen, and place settings (glassware and charger plates).

Mix of tall florals on gold stand and low lush in the crystal room.

Tall gold pillar candles, adorned with flowers around the base.

The bride and groom make their entrance.

This is what we call “everlasting love….”

And next we bring you the groom’s MANCAVE by The DapperED Den.
The design concept for the mancave was inspired by Moroccan Casablanca.
With crystal decanters carefully picked out from the groom, the whiskey bar and cigars were a hit!

On the way to the after party (which featured Brand Nubian!), these mini’s were given out to guests!

Our second installment of our crying grooms series features a more subdued gentleman. If you blink you might miss it. Check out this beautiful moment below.

From the moment this groom

We don’t know the name of this groom but we do know that he was trying hard to keep those emotions in. The pursed mouth, deep breathing, and the swaying back and forth — great attempt but just let it out my friend. We love to see that. It’s a beautiful thing.

Groom’s Emotion: ???

ED’s Emotion: ????

*Love us some silent flowing tears!

We’re excited to bring you, Marjorie & Sam : Old World Luxury (part 2).

The photo sessions you are about to see are some of the best you’ll ever see! That’s because the bride, groom and their bridal party were flawless (head to toe — beautiful people, amazing threads, loving energy) AND because the photographer is a G.E.N.I.U.S. with the lens! Cody Raisig, thank you for always making our weddings look “beyond fairytale” !!!

Effortless love… that’s the best way to describe these two.

Sunset anyone?

Ombre bouquets in blush, mauves and purples…

I know we’re making this bridal bouquet look effortless, but trust me when I say it took lots of EFFORT!

Buttonholes.

Flawlessly styled wedding party.

This is how you do ombre bridesmaids. Gowns and florals were carefully executed.

Have you ever seen such dapper ring and bible bearers? The bride and groom’s handsome sons, were adorable!

Cocktail hour included Marj’s margarita’s and Sam’s shots! With Patron ofcourse.

Marj’s Margaritas!

Sam’s Shots!

So… a dome cake is not a common thing in the USA. Our luxurious bride provided photo inspiration of her cake, which included an international design element. Thankfully our cake designer was able to carry out this element and create the perfect cake to compliment the overall wedding design.

Stay tuned for part 3.

{Special Guest Post By: Wendy Dessler}

After you get married, in most cases, you’re going to combine your finances with your spouse. Since you intend to spend the rest of your life with this person, it makes sense to have this conversation as soon as you get married, if not sooner.

Instead of wasting time binge watching your favorite TV series on Netflix at the end of a long day, you can talk about money with your spouse and potential financial pitfalls instead. Sure, it’s certainly not the sexiest topic in the world, but it’s very important to your financial health and future. Do not avoid money conversations for any reason.

Pay close attention and avoid these common money mistakes made by unsuspecting newlyweds.
