City Wedding: {Janelle & Dale, October 20th 2014}

October is becoming a favorite month for weddings. And why not? Autumn lends itself to warm colors, sunny days, and crisp nights that ignite romance.

This was no exception for Janelle and Dale’s New York City wedding which took place on a beautiful fall day. The couple wanted a polished, modern New York City wedding with a twist. Starting at the historic Calvary Church in lower Manhattan, Janelle and Dale said their “I Do’s” with the love and warm support of their family and friends.

Instead of a stark white loft space for their reception, they chose Colicchio & Sons, a restaurant in the heart of the meatpacking district. The interior of Colicchio & Sons blends cool, metal surfaces with warm hues and a cozy cabin atmosphere.

We decided to play up the contradiction of hard and soft by using white and cream roses and anemones, smokey brunia, with smooth metallic finishes, hobnail and mercury vases and wood stumps. With a mixture of floating and pillar candles, the warm colors of Colicchio and Sons danced around the guests to intensify the magical feeling Janelle and Dale’s wedding invoked.

For dinner, guests enjoyed synchronized service that optimized the time they had to spend together. After dinner, guests moved into the adjoining room for dancing with floor to ceiling windows set aglow with candlelight that highlighted the views of the High Line and Hudson River.

We were thrilled to be a part of Janelle and Dale’s special day and couldn’t wait to share these amazing photographs from Sara Wight.
